The inaugural edition of XTINCTION – Canada’s First Extreme Hard Enduro is in the books and was proven to be a premier Canadian event and one which is ready to accommodate a World Class Competition!
Starting with a gnarly two-hour qualifier through the Alberta Badlands, competitors were faced with extreme challenges fit to expire several of them as they came face to face with XTINCTION! As if the course which the Corner Grass Racing Team (CGRT) had prepared was not already enough of a challenge, Mother Nature came a calling with a steady downpour making the course nearly impassable!
Thirty competitors were able to complete the qualifying session and were fortunate enough to be greeted with sunny skies for the XTINCTION Showdown. They were tasked with another two hours in the saddle, during which time several of the competitors faced XTINCTION and were eliminated from the race!
In the end, Canadian Off-Road phenom Cory Graffunder (HUSQ) and American rival Kyle Redmond (KTM) put on a spectacular show and battled to the end with Graffunder squeaking out the win and taking home a healthy part of the $5000 CAD purse!
Xtinction Official Results:
1) Cory Graffunder (Husq), 2) Kyle Redmond (KTM), 3) Jason Schrage (Hon), 4) Julien Cerny (KTM), 5) Geoff Nelson (KTM), 6) Shane Cuthbertson (Husaberg), 7) Ben Rego (Yam), 8) Paul Petrin (KTM), 9) Noel Bolso (KTM), 10) Jared Thomas (KTM)

Wow …what an awesome weekend! The weather couldn’t have been better. We got a midday shower on Saturday that dumped the perfect amount of water and prompted a lunch break for the riders and volunteers. Then after a couple greasy laps, the soil tacked up perfectly under the bright sun. There were many reports of peg dragging fun out on the grass track
Then amazingly the same thing happened again on Sunday.

I made the Five hour journey to
Barrys Ultra Motorsports Park(BUMP) through rain and heavey snow. When I arrived there were seemed to be abanded rv’s through the pits but little did i find the people were either curled up by their heaters or in the Bump house sitting by the fire watching the snow fall in late May.

As I opted out of the parade lap which took an hour I was happy I did cause when the riders came back they were completely covered in wet mud which made them cold and confused in why they were there.
The Race:
I started off the line in the back of the pack trying to get settled in to the slippery terrain i then started to pass some riders and get into a groove. After half way I found myself sliding off a man made bridge and STUCK! After prying my Berg out of the mud hole I had to start catching riders that passed me which seem to be a cat and mouse game all race. After Two of the Four laps I found myself in survival mode ruts, roots and mud were wearing me out. But I perservered and took the Third spot on the podium in the
30+A Class.
I give huge respects to all the volunteers that stood out in the crappy weather and for the Barrys for sticking to holding the race.
See Ya
Jaymudplow!
